Today we got some great photographs of the birds and even a bit of low-res footage from my digicam to serve as a placeholder for the webcam that will hopefully come.

Hi all,

I need to get some information established, so things can be like water - translucent and in motion.
(Watched 'One Water' presented by GIC Global Nursing & World Community @ Stan Hagen last night. Respectable film. I recommend it.)

I established this blog under my own initiative, having been inspired to try my hand at a new social media project - specifically, creating a dedicated live webcam feed. I was not contacted by any of CREAC's core members and although my views reflect theirs, I am not affiliated with them in any other measure than through social media elements i.e. Google groups. This blog is managed independently of CREAC and I will continue to maintain it with the aim of completing the project.

The project being to see whether we can establish and maintain a live webcam feed in exposed conditions, with minimal cost and involvement, to document an environmental event.

I passionately believe that when properly managed, social media applications can be used to strengthen communities, benefit small businesses and create networks that go beyond the limits of distance - immediately important when your loved ones are scattered across the globe. My studies into social media applications have led me to 2 conclusions:

The speed at which new, useful social media applications or tools are being developed and made available means that the learning process is ongoing,
Anyone and everyone can benefit from each other's knowledge, especially when you consider that it is possible to be intimately connected to a person 22 000km away.

Establishing a social media network for CREAC's cause

Hi all, following an inspirational e-mail from GraGor I have voluntarily taken on the task of establishing a social media network for CREAC - Courtenay River Estuary Action Committee.

With the aim of forming a coherent campaign I have updated the following elements:

This blog: A Peek at the Eagles (CREAC) - We have established this site to provide a tool for keeping record of the effect of the proposed Gas n Go on the eagle nesting site located within 60m of the location, should it actually be developed. You can lend further support to this cause by clicking on the "Follow" button right at the bottom of the page. This will give the blog some "equity" and make it a more impactful tool.

In order to gain some better visual representation for the different elements I have asked amateur photographer Kayla Otis-Tambeau to come and take some pics for us. She is a very talented, creative young photographer and is doing this on her own cost and time. All I can offer her in return is electronic kudos on the site, so if anyone in the Powell River/Comox Valley area is looking for a photographer make sure to contact her through Facebook or at french_butterfly_69@hotmail.com.

I hope everyone is pleased with the changes I have made and thanks again for supporting this cause.
